About Adam Handler
Born in 1986 in Queens, NY, spent his formative years on Long Island, where his artistic journey began. Countless hours at his grandparents' framing factory in New York City ignited his passion for the arts and opened his eyes to its endless possibilities.
His artistic education includes studying Life Drawing in Italy and earning a degree in Art History from Purchase College. Handler further refined his craft by studying design with Jorge Nieves and color photography printing with Debra Mesa-Pelly.
Over the years, he has held solo exhibitions at esteemed galleries, including the Fred Torres Gallery in Chelsea and Vered Gallery in East Hampton. Handler's work has also been prominently featured at major art fairs, such as Art New York, Art Market Hamptons, Art Context Miami, and the Armory Print Fair. His art has reached audiences across the United States, Canada, the Middle East, Europe and Asia appearing in numerous exhibitions worldwide.
Handler's characters are distilled into pure shapes and textures, evoking a sense of uninhibited adolescence. Yet, much like the figures of Willem de Kooning, he skillfully integrates figure and background, creating moments of captivating harmony that invite introspection. His technical brushwork resonates through a carefully curated color palette, establishing a dynamic atmosphere on the canvas. Some works embrace rich, deep tones, while others explore soft pastels, fostering an ongoing internal dialogue.
