Blancpain Archives
Founded in 1735, Blancpain is the world’s oldest watch brand and a guardian of traditional mechanical artistry. The Maison is celebrated for its mastery of high complications and its 1953 creation of the Fifty Fathoms, the first modern diving watch. A pivotal turning point came in 1981 when Jean-Claude Biver and Jacques Piguet acquired the dormant name, famously vowing that there would never be a quartz Blancpain. This revival championed the prestige of mechanical movements during the "quartz crisis" and led to the brand's acquisition by the Swatch Group. Today, Blancpain operates as a true manufacture in Le Brassus, producing proprietary movements and exceptional hand-finishing that define the pinnacle of haute horlogerie.
