About Edgar Plans

Edgar Plans, born in 1977 in Madrid, Spain, is a contemporary artist known for his vibrant and playful works that merge influences from street art, Picasso, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. A self-taught artist, Plans grew up in a creatively supportive environment, where he developed a passion for drawing characters from comic books. His signature creations, the colorful Animal Heroes, feature whimsical figures with mouse ears and large heads, tapping into the culture of cuteness and 'kawaii' art.

Plans has exhibited widely across Europe and Asia, with notable solo exhibitions at Almine Rech in Brussels and Paris, as well as the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. His work is characterized by a dynamic use of color and form, often integrating elements of humor and narrative. In his recent project, "Lil’ Heroes," Plans is translating his characters into digital tokens for the NFT community, showcasing his adaptability in a changing art landscape.

His pieces have achieved significant auction success, with a record price of $698,568 for a work sold at Christie's Shanghai. Plans's art is celebrated for its integration of wordplay and imagery, inviting viewers to engage with a playful yet thought-provoking aesthetic.
